Work begins on Pilot Blocks

Greg Combet, Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, announced today that Australia’s $8 billion Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project was progressing well and would commence hull construction in the next few months.

Contract with Taylor Bros Slipway and Engineering

The AWD Alliance has awarded a contract worth more than $25 million to the Tasmanian company Taylor Bros Slipway and Engineering for provision of engineering and production services to the project and to deliver a range of accommodation products for the AWDs.

Shipbuilding Contract with BAE Systems Australia Defence

The Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance has announced that ASC, on behalf of the Alliance, has signed a contract with Victorian based BAE Systems Australia Defence as one of two contractors to build 70 per cent of the blocks that will make up Australia’s three air warfare destroyers.

The Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance has selected the FORGACS group and NQEA Australia Pty Ltd as the preferred suppliers to build 70 per cent of the blocks that will make up Australia’s three air warfare destroyers.

Contracts signed for new AWD Alliance headquarters

The AWD Alliance has signed the contracts for the building of its new headquarters at Osborne in South Australia. The Alliance expects to complete the move of most of its people from its current location to the new headquarters in 2010.
